Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone Patio

This landscaping project in Altrincham centred around the installation of a 55m2 mixed size Indian sandstone patio, designed to create a spacious and practical area for outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxing.

Kandla Grey sandstone was paired with Kota Black limestone setts and Black Ice decorative gravel to create a defined, contemporary finish while retaining the natural character of traditional stone.

55m2 Kandla Grey Sandstone Patio

The main patio was constructed using mixed size Kandla Grey Indian sandstone. Each flag has its own subtle variations in shade and texture, giving the finished surface a natural appearance with plenty of character.

The mixed size laying pattern adds visual interest across the large area and helps the patio feel more established within the garden. Its soft grey colouring also works particularly well alongside the red brick of the property and the surrounding greenery.

Careful Ground Preparation

The area was fully prepared to create a strong and lasting foundation for the new paving. Levels were carefully established to provide an even surface with the correct falls, allowing rainwater to move away from the property.

The sandstone was then individually laid and aligned to maintain consistent spacing throughout the mixed size pattern, producing a clean and balanced finish across the entire 55m2 terrace.

Kota Black Limestone Sett Border

Kota Black limestone setts were installed around the perimeter of the patio, creating a strong frame around the lighter Kandla Grey paving.

The dark border clearly defines the shape of the terrace and provides a smart transition between the paved surface, lawn and surrounding garden. It also brings a more detailed, premium finish to the overall design.

Framing the terrace this way gives the Kandla Grey paving a defined outline from every angle, and keeps the patio reading as one finished space within the garden.

Black Ice Decorative Gravel

Black Ice decorative gravel was added around the patio and alongside the property to complete the installation. Its mixture of dark and light stone complements both the grey sandstone and the black limestone detailing.

The gravel creates a crisp separation between the paving and adjoining surfaces while providing a practical finish around the edges of the patio.

The Finished Project

The completed patio has transformed this Altrincham garden into a generous and inviting outdoor living space. The mixed size Kandla Grey sandstone brings natural variation, while the Kota Black limestone setts give the area a defined architectural border.

Finished with Black Ice decorative gravel, the combination of materials creates a smart, cohesive patio that complements both the property and its surrounding garden.
